  • Online Tool Helps Detect Prostate Cancer
U.S. researchers have developed an online prostate cancer survival model that can help detect the disease and recommend treatment approaches. The researchers, at the Josephine Ford Cancer Center, said the model is the most comprehensive long-term prostate cancer survival guide available to date. It was developed from a study of more than 1,600 patients with localized prostate cancer as well as more than 4,500 disease-free controls. Patients and doctors who visit the site can obtain a personalized 10-year survival estimate based on age, race, a few clinical measures, and the kind of treatment being pursued. Once data have been entered, a simple mouse-click provides the prognosis.
